Laura Anne Ingraham (born June 19, 1963) is a conservative television host in the United States. Since October 2017, she has served as anchor of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News Channel and as editor-in-chief of LifeZette. She previously hosted The Laura Ingraham Show, a nationally syndicated radio show.

Ingraham served as a speechwriter in the late 1980s Reagan administration. Following that, she got a J.D. and worked as a judicial clerk in New York’s Second Circuit Court of Appeals and subsequently for United States Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. She also worked in New York City for the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Ingraham’s media career began in the mid-1990s.

Early Life 

Ingraham was born and raised in Glastonbury, Connecticut, to Anne Caroline and James Frederick Ingraham III. Her maternal grandparents were immigrants from Poland, and her father had Irish and English ancestors. In 1981, she graduated from Glastonbury High School.

Ingraham graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in 1985. She subsequently attended the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served as the Virginia Law Review’s notes editor. In 1991, she earned a Juris Doctor degree.



In the late 1980s, Ingraham worked for the Reagan administration’s Domestic Policy Advisor as a speechwriter. She also served briefly as editor of The Prospect; the journal published by Princeton’s Concerned Alumni. Following law school, she clerked for Judge Ralph K. Winter Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York and later for United States Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

She then worked as an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York. She was featured on the cover of The New York Times Magazine in 1995 as part of an article about young conservatives. In 1996, she co-organized the first Dark Ages Weekend with Jay P. Lefkowitz in reaction to Renaissance Weekend.
