Early Life
Cho was born and raised in Concord, Massachusetts. He has a younger brother named Andrew. She was born to Sang In Cho (d. March 13, 2009), a Korean American physician, and Donna Cho (née Weltman), a Jewish-American nurse. Her father, born and raised in South Korea, came to the United States to practice medicine and led the team that performed Boston’s first liver transplant. On March 13, 2009, he succumbed to colon cancer. Liz Cho studied journalism and history at Boston University.

Career
Her first job in journalism was as an assignment editor for Newton, Massachusetts-based New England Cable News. Cho then worked as a reporter for WPLG in Miami, Florida, before joining ABC News as a correspondent based in Chicago for ABC NewsOne, the network’s affiliate news service. Later in her career, she and Derek McGinty co-anchored ABC’s overnight news show, World News Now. She also worked as a correspondent and fill-in anchor for Good Morning America during this time period.
Cho began her career at WABC-TV on July 6, 2003, taking over for Diana Williams between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Cho began co-hosting the station’s new “First at 4:00” newscast with David Novarro in 2011, replacing the hour vacated by The Oprah Winfrey Show’s departure. Additionally, she continues to co-anchor the 6 p.m. broadcasts with Bill Ritter as of 2012.
